About Danise
Danise Lee Barry, 49, passed away June 9, 2012. She was born in Lexington, KY, the daughter of Dan and Joann Chapman. She was a devoted mother to two daughters and committed to a lifetime of service to many different community organizations. Danise was married for 30 years to her husband Michael Barry and together they had two daughters Tiffany and Lauren. The family lived in the Atlanta, GA area but frequently visited the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. Danise has one sibling, Laura Rosenthal, who she was very close with.
Danise was a student nurse at Clayton General in the Emergency Room and at West Paces Ferry Hospital in the nursery department. She was an active member of organizations helping the military, animals and the American Cancer Society. Danise enjoyed exercising outdoors and participated in a triathlon after age 40. She is remembered for her love for her family, passion and enthusiasm for life, desire to help those around her and beautiful smile. She was a friend to those in need, always willing to listen and inspired those around with her positive attitude and faith in God. As a testament to her wonderful desire to help others, during her illness she continued to give her love and time to volunteering.
Danise's daughter Lauren is a Nursing School graduate from Northern Arizona University (NAU); Class of 2017. This scholarship was established in Danise's memory at the ten year mark of her passing to carry on the spirit of giving and healing that so deeply defined her life.
